What is adsense

What is AdSense?
Google.com earns most of its revenue by allowing other website owners to advertise on their search result pages. All this is managed through a program they call AdWords.
Now you can earn a share of the revenue that Google earns from AdWords by displaying these same text ads on your site. In other words, you're helping Google advertise and they pay you a percentage of what they earn.
This program is called AdSense.
Every website owner should at least consider the program. Even if your site is just for information purposes, you can still participate and make decent money with AdSense -- or at least enough to fund your website.
So if you are one of those people that doesn't like the idea of paying for a site, this is an excellent way to earn your money back and then some.
How AdSense Works
Don't like to read a lot of text? Watch my 4-minute video on how AdSense works.
How Much Can You Earn With AdSense?
Google does not disclose exactly how much you'll earn per ad that is clicked.
The commission you receive per click depends on how much advertisers are paying Google for the particular ad. You will earn a share of that amount. I've heard of earnings anywhere from 2 cents to $15 per click.
So it is logical to believe that keyword phrases like debt free, employment, make money, mp3, sex, etc. will earn you more per click since these are highly competitive keywords that are searched for quite a bit on the web.
Advertisers generally pay more for popular terms because they are searched for more.
Even though Google will not reveal how much you are earning for each ad that is clicked from your site, you can still login to your account at any time and see the total amount of revenue you've generated that day, week, month, year, etc.
For example, if you see that you've made $12.60 today from 9 clicks then you can calculate that your average click-thru commission was $1.40 per click. That's as detailed as their stats will get. Also remember, that's only an average. You won't know how much each specific ad brought in.
The amount you'll earn also depends largely on the amount of targeted traffic you receive to your own site, how well the ads match your audience's interests, the placement of the ads on your pages, and of course the amount you receive per click.
Ideally, you should create a site on a topic you know a lot about. That way you'll have a much easier time creating a generous amount of content on that subject.
My Google AdSense Earnings
I have been receiving monthly checks from Google since 2003, and I've read numerous success stories of websites earning 5 digit incomes per month with AdSense.
Now, I will admit, a 5-digit commission in a single month is probably not the norm for most participants.
I promote AdSense on three of my websites and my monthly checks are usually around the $6,000 mark.
My sites have been around for a long time and I have a great deal of traffic so that's a big reason why I earn so much. I promote my sites on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc. Making a lot of money with AdSense is all about numbers. The more traffic you have, the greater the earning potential.
My checks weren't always this large. I think my first month's earnings in 2003 totaled less than $20. However, as my traffic increased, so did my checks.

How to Get Google AdSense Premier Account

Have you seen Google Adsense premier ads? They are those flexible custom Google Adsense premium ads with special large sizes, custom fonts, custom colors, and a whole new content placement of text and links targeted for higher CTR. So how do you get an Adsense Premier Account?
We blogged in 2005 that Google Adsense Premium Accounts offered special benefits (like customized revenue terms, flexible ad formats, special code tags etc.) and then the eligibility criteria was more than 5 million search queries or 20 million content page views a month.
See screenshot below and can you believe those are around 10 text links in 1 ad unit along the text. Won’t that click well. Thats Adsense Premium for you as seen on ezinearticles.

So what has changed now? I was reading What levels of support does AdSense offer? and found the official word on the Adsense Premier account.
Who is eligible for Adsense Premier Account?

Only highest-earning Adsense publishers may be eligible for dedicated account management through AdSense premier level service. Many of the publishers in this program are within the top 1% of Adsense earners, are among the largest 100 sites in their market, and include large brand names with content that generates highly competitive advertiser demand.
What are selection criteria for Adsense Premium Account?

Criteria for the program include, but aren’t limited to, high site quality, high traffic levels, and compliance with program policies. They also consider a number of factors beyond traffic and earnings, so you cannot predict or guarantee eligibility based on these criteria alone.
Can you apply for Adsense Premier Account?

Eligible publishers will be contacted by an AdSense representative with more information on their own. So as of now, while we all wish to get a Premier account, Adsense is monitoring your account, and if you grow big in terms of brand value, traffic or advertiser demand, wait for the Adsense premier invitation in your email.

Which is the most popular social networking site in India?

Which is the most popular social networking site in India? Its not Facebook, its Orkut. Comscore in its latest report tracked the top social networking sites in India, and found that global social networking brands like Orkut, Facebook, hi5, LinkedIn and MySpace continued to gain prominence in India during the year.
They elaborate that Orkut is the most visited social networking site in India this December 2008 with more than 12.8 million visitors, an increase of 81 percent from the previous year. In fact Orkut’s audience is three times its nearest competitor Facebook.
Facebook is second most popular Indian social networking site with 4 million visitors, up 150 percent versus year ago. The third most popular social networking site is … surprise … Bharatstudent, with 3.3 million visitors (up 88 percent) followed by hi5 with 2 million visitors (up 182 percent).
Other popular networking sites in India featured in the list in descending order are ibibo, Myspace, LinkedIn, PerfSpot, BigAdda and Fropper. Now you have more sites to check out and track your friends.
I remember an earlier article tracking the most popular social networks around the world, which suggested that LinkedIn might be the most popular social network in India, but watchful QOT readers Quakeboy and Rajesh had commented even then that Orkut was the most popular one!
